- 1. Mohawk Lakes Trail is at the southern end of the Ten Mile Range. This hike is less than 7 miles round-trip and takes you near streams and waterfalls to the Upper Mohawk Lake.
- 2. Baldy Mountain or Bald Mountain is close to downtown. It is popular Ridgeline leads to Boreas Mountain. Breckenridge sits at 9600 feet and these trails take you to over 13,000 feet without too much duress. Catch the trail at Highway 9 via Boreas Pass Road.
- 3. After those warm-ups, go higher: Grays Peak and Torreys Peak measure over 14,000 feet. Find the easiest trail to Torreys at exit 221 on Interstate 70, go over dirt park area to Forest Road 189 for 3 miles. Start early in the day for the full 9-hour hike.
